Traditional Skills Trainer / Mentor
At Stirling Community Enterprise we are looking to add to our charities training and delivery team the skills of an experienced traditional skills trainer / mentor. Working with trainees who experience barriers to employment you will introduce them to the skills required to embark on a career in the traditional building sector including leading on the delivery a number of 6-week Traditional Skills Training Courses throughout the period of the contract.
The successful candidate for this role will have a solid grounding in at least one of the following traditional skills areas; stonemasonry, joinery or roofing and have a desire to pass on their skills to the next generation. You will be a practical individual who enjoys working as part of a small team to deliver work to a high standard.
You will work closely with our in house training, contracts and grounds maintenance teams who work across a wide range of construction, landscaping and employability sectors, providing real work opportunities and formal accreditation for learners achievements. This position will see the candidate and their trainees work at a range of sites throughout the Stirling area in close partnership with organisations such as Historic Environment Scotland and Stirling Council.
Holding a formal qualification is desirable for this role but not essential whilst a passion for the sector and a proven track record of delivery is.
Salary: £26k – £29k pa (pro rata) depending on experience
Duration: Initial 9 month contract with option to extend
Hour: 35 hours per week
