Job Name: Street Furniture Repair
Client: Stirling Council Roads Department
Within Port street and Friar’s Street, the granite street furniture installed as part of the wider street improvements had been damaged or moved by large vehicles. Repair of these features would not be easy due to the weight and bespoke nature of each of the stones used in their construction. The logistics of this contract were testing, with the location and size of the granite blocks meaning a machine was out of the question. To ensure safety of the public we decided to use a specialist floor crane. This helped make a difficult job go smoothly and safely with the granite blocks being lifted and drilled, to allow dowels to be inserted and secured before returning the stones to their location and affixing them to the ground. Reclaimed materials were sourced to repair broken stones and create a finish in keeping with the area.
Job Name: King Street Drainage and Bespoke Street Repair
Client: Stirling Council Roads Department
Spring saw a focus on King Street, Stirling, with a mixture of pavement and carriageway repairs required on behalf of the local authority. The specialist skills of our team were on full display whilst lifting reinstating and point joints of paving on the left and right-hand side of King street from the arcade down to the Red Lion hotel. In addition to this the team removed damaged drainage channels on the junction of king street and port street and replace with granite blocks to match the surrounding finish. Remaining drains were cleaned out to ensure they worked effectively. This was a challenging contract to undertake whilst maintaining public access to this busy shopping area. With great support and guidance from Stirling Council Roads Department the contract was completed to a very high standard whilst ensuring the safety of the public throughout.
Job Name: Ground & Property Care
Client: Various
With temperatures rising and summer on the way our seasonal grounds maintenance contracts are now in full swing. Warm weather in March meant an earlier than usual start on grass cutting, hedge pruning and weed control for clients including Cowans Trust, Forth Housing Association and Stirling Council. We see our grounds contracts as being of wider community benefit, allowing learners team members to build skills in landscaping and customer service whilst improving the quality of the green space within the communities that we live and work in. We look forward to growing this service over the years to come.
