22nd February 2018Training Course/ Placement Attended
I attended for support with housing & universal credit and social support. I was also supported in meetings with the Stirling Council Housing and Finance Department.
SCE also supported me in looking for voluntary work in the care industry and received help with my PVG application.
Whilst at SCE I was offered a weeks work training with a local hotel, this resulted in a formal job interview which SCE helped train me for.
I received good feedback from my interview and felt very positive.
In the end, I was offered the job and have moved into employment.
Why did you decide to get involved with Stirling Community Enterprise?
I decided to get involved as my partner knew of the company, he had good experiences there and I decided to pop in.
Can you describe your Stirling Community Enterprise Experience?
I found everyone very helpful at SCE, I had never been helped like this before. They did everything they said they would, I never felt judged and they always returned my calls.
What were the highlights of your experience?
My CV was greatly improved, I really liked the one to one support which let me to being placed on a work course and getting me my first interview and job. It was a good experience and I would not be phased in the future if I had to go for another interview.
Has your Training/ Placement influenced any future career plans?
Yes, I am no longer scared to take the necessary steps in the right direction and believe in my self and my abilities.
What advice would you give students considering becoming involved with Stirling Community Enterprise?
I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. If I hadn’t come to SCE I feel my voice would not have been heard and I would have been stuck not knowing what to do or where to go.
