Tyler McMurray

I first heard about Stirling Community Enterprise from Eleanor Cuthbert at Stirling Council. At the time I didn’t have much work experience, so I wanted to get out and learn some new skills. I started on the Landscaping course and learned how to use all the grass cutting equipment and machinery, gaining certificates as I trained.

While at SCE I also prepared for my CSCS test, before starting the training I was a bit nervous about it however the trainers put me at ease and were available for any extra help that I needed. when I passed, I was really pleased with myself for gaining an industry recognised qualification.

Since progressing form training, I am now gaining work experience with SCE’s contracts team, which is a great experience for me as I am learning new things all the time. Everybody is supportive, and I am much more confident using all the tools and equipment. It’s a great environment to learn and it’s nothing like school.

Because of all the skills I have learned, I am a lot more confident and I can see myself working within the construction industry in the future!
