    This is an opportunity to gain practical, hands on experience and workplace knowledge, balanced with gaining a recognised SQA qualification.

    You will learn about the application and employability process, what it takes to complete a successful and informative application form/CV and also to prepare for the interview process.

    You will be able to identify your own skills, build confidence and resilience and investigate ways to improve them along with developing new and effective skills in the process. You will have access to NHS health checks and support from staff in overcoming any existing barriers stopping you from moving forward with your life.

    Course Description:
    This is a hands on practical course, which provides skills training and practical experience within the construction industry.  Workshops include an introduction to health, safety and welfare at work, manual handling and abrasive wheels along with the opportunity to undertake an SVQ in Construction and Civil Engineering Operations and CSCS.

    Work experience opportunities are also available with our partner employers who will provide practical site based work experience within the Stirling area.  Employers offering this opportunity include Robertson Construction, PJ Griffin & Sons Ltd Civil Engineers, Tough Construction Ltd and Stirling Community Enterprise Contracts Team.

    This programme includes workshops that will help learners to identify their skills and strengths, develop interview skills, build their CV and gain an understanding of application forms to enable learners to move forward with their lives.

    Course Description:

    Support is offered on a one to one basis to people who are or have been within the community justice system or at risk of becoming involved in the justice system.

    Specialist employability support is offered and includes support with disclosure, overcoming multiple barriers that are preventing clients moving forward into further training, education, employment or volunteering.

  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) - Stage 4 equivalent

    Course Description:

    The training for the CSCS Labourer Card is completed over 3 days.

    Day 1: SQA Health and Safety in the Construction Environment training and completion of an online assessment

    Day 2: CSCS training delivered and practice for the CITB test

    Day 3: CSCS test

  • ALBA Landscaping (Cultenhove) - Stage 2 Equivalent

    Course Description:

    This programme is postponed until 2020

    Trainees will be trained in safe use of ground care equipment such as rotary mowers, brush cutters, and hedge cutters and will also learn to lay different types of modular surfaces including mono-blocks and slabs.

    This course teaches learners about health and safety requirements like risk assessing and using hazardous substances in line with COSHH regulations.

    Workshops will help learners to identify their skills and strengths enabling them to update their C.V and prepare for interviews.

    Access to confidential support with areas preventing learners from moving forward including housing, benefits and criminal convictions is available too.

    You will be involved in the planning, designing and production of outside garden furniture using pallets. It is an excellent first step towards a more structured programme within the centre.

    Tea, coffee and lunch (soup and sandwiches) are provided at no cost.

    This group is a rolling programme taking place every Friday.
